Annual renewal of registration due by 31 March 2007
To avoid removal from the Register of Architects and the risk of practising illegally, architects must renew their annual registration by 31 March 2007.
As a condition of annual renewal of registration architects must maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance (unless the architect is an employee or exceptional circumstances apply) and undertake a minimum of 20 hours of CPE/CPD, 10 hours of which must be formal in each registration year. Architects who have not met their CPE/CPD obligations will not have their registration renewed until these obligations are met, or exceptional circumstances apply. For more information on CPE/CPD, please see the CPE/CPD section of the Board’s website or contact the Registrar.
2007 Client Service Awards - nomination forms now available
The Client Service Award provides an opportunity for satisfied clients to win recognition for their architect’s service. The selection criteria are focused on common areas of uncertainty and complaint by consumers about architectural services - communication, understanding the processes and management of the contract; and an assessment of the architect’s response to environmental sustainability aspects of the project.
The Client Service Excellence Award is open to all architects registered in New South Wales. However, the project cannot exceed $4 million and is limited to projects completed in the last two years in NSW. To be eligible, architects or architect corporations and firms should have two nominations from clients. Nominations for the 2007 Award close on 28 September 2007. For more information and nomination forms click here.
2007 Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarships
The Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarships enable winners to undertake a course of travel, study, research or other activity approved by the Board, that contribute to the advancement of architecture. All winners must be resident in NSW and graduates or students at a NSW university.
Each year two scholarships valued up to $39,000 are awarded to architects; one scholarship up to $8,000 is awarded to a recent graduate in architecture (past five years). Four scholarships of $4,000 is awarded to a student from each of the four schools of architecture in NSW who has completed the first tier of a two-tier program or the third year of a five-year program, nominated by their respective heads of program/school.
This year the application process for architects has been amended to encourage an increase in the number and quality of applications from architects. Download 2007 application forms or contact Mae Cruz, Deputy Registrar.
