Sydney Architecture Festival Monday 1 October 2007

Where: Customs House, 31 Alfred Street Circular Quay

For the first time a range of stimulating activities has been organised in the city for the people of Sydney on Monday 1 October beginning 10.30am. The free architecture tours will explore some of Sydney's prominent streets and most significant buildings. The talks will focus on the Zero Carbon theme and speakers include Malcolm Turnbull, Federal Environment Minister. A children's design activity will be led by the UNSW Faculty of the Built Environment. Open architectural practices will be availabel for the public to visit. Five teams of energetic architects and their supporters working on the glass top of the Sydney city model inside Customs House will compete in an intensive design challenge about the future of Sydney. And architecture students are encouraging everyone to join in making the longest architectural drawing.

Has your client nominated you for the 2007 Client Service Award? The Award provides an opportunity for satisfied clients to win recognition for their architect's service. This year the architect's reponse to environmental sustainability issues is also evaluated.

The Client Service Excellence Award is open to all architects registered in NSW. It will be judged by a committee of architects, consumers and industry professionals. To be eligible, two nominations from clients are required. The winning architect will receive $5,000. Download forms from www.architects.nsw.gov.au or contact the Board on 02 9241 4033.
