Sustainable development in regional areas – public forum in Orange 17 September
The Board will meet in Orange on 17 September and meet with local architects from 3.30-4.30 pm for an informal discussion about the regulation of architects.
Following these meetings the Board has partnered with Orange City Council to present a public forum Sustainable development in a regional context.
Speakers include Dylan Gower, 2007 Byera Hadley Travelling Scholarship winner, Peter Mould, the NSW Government Architect and Councillor Neil Jones, Orange City Council and President of Environmentally Concerned Citizens of Orange City. Speakers will outline the issues and canvas solutions. The audience will then be invited to ask questions of the speakers and put their views.

Reducing carbon emissions
Why not come along to a special presentation by Caroline Pidcock, Pidcock Architecture + Sustainability and Anthony Nolan, Kennedy Associates Architects on Thursday 27 August to learn how you can use the site and help us put together a CPD package on the site.
Caroline and Anthony will take you through the background to the project, demonstrate how to use the website and assist you as you undertake your own energy audit.
You will need to bring information on your office building, energy bills, list of office equipment and a laptop with wireless connection. You will also need to confirm that you are agreeable to being filmed at this session which will be uploaded on YouTube in the near future.
Update on the Review of the Architects Act
The latest update from the Department of Commerce, the agency responsible for the review of the Architects Act, indicates that invitations for submissions on changes to the Act will be advertised mid August. We will keep you posted.

Glenn Murcutt – Architecture for Place exhibition at Museum of Sydney
Glenn Murcutt's groundbreaking designs are internationally recognised as being at the forefront of contemporary architecture. New Zealand Architecture Master Class 27 September – 3 October 2009
There is a tremendous opportunity for practising architects, academics and postgraduate students to join the fifth six-day Master Class with Richard Leplastrier, Peter Stutchbury, the amazing Ian Athfield and Lindsay Johnston at Awaroa Lodge in the Abel Tasman National Park, top left corner of the south island of New Zealand. The event is again being supported by the Miles Warren Educational Trust.
Preliminary bookings for the 09 Master Class include participants from Norway, Germany, Costa Rica and Colorado, USA as well as Australia and New Zealand. Bookings need to be made immediately.
Green Building & Design Conference 9-10 September 2009 – Green materials
The RMIT Centre for Design has put together a comprehensive and informative program on the topic of building materials and their environmental impact. For the first time attendance of the conference can be extended into a single course with credits towards a postgraduate subject. Moreover an online participation mode has been established for those participants who are unable to make it to Melbourne. 9-10 September 2009
